Smith knew that God had called him to be a leader even before he preached his first soul-stirring sermon at age of 14. By the time he was 22 he had become the first black male commissioner in Calhoun County, Michigan, and one of the youngest county commissioners in the state's history. Smith's path toward prominence continued when he was appointed pastor of a church in Western Indiana at the age of 23. Within five years, the charismatic young leader had transformed the fledging congregation into the city's largest African-American church, created the largest financial base in his community and had become one of the city's most influential black leaders. But, turmoil lurked around the corner. After making a stunning confession to his congregation, Smith found himself hated and reviled. With his reputation ruined, his finances depleted and his confidence lost, he descended into a deep depression. But just as his circumstances seemed to worsen, Smith recognized he was not alone. Stripping himself of the image he had spent years trying to perfect and leaning on God's promises, Smith began putting the pieces of his life back together as he became Naked Before God.

Dr.Tino W.Smith this book is really interesting although you are my brother n law there were a lot of things about you that I didn't even no myself, and after reading this book it made me appreciate you even more and for those who didn't like what you had to say in the book it was only because you were speaking the truth and the truth sometimes hurt. Anyways I love you and my sister dearly.

We all know that when we hear the Name Dr.Tino W. Smith, three words come to mind. Honest, vivacious, and opinionated. Last year, I chose to do a book report over Dr. Smith because of a book he wrote called Naked Before God. This story depicted the truth and rumors revealed behind his personal life. thrilling- this book held my attention for hours and hours. I found myself not wanting to lay the book down. I read the entire book straight through not putting it down for one minute. I think that it's great that the author was inspired to leave the readers with such a moving testimony.
