Acidanthera Gladiolus - The Gladiolus Acidanthera, 'Gladiolus Callianthus', a spring planted corm, exhibits magnificent white flowers on short stalks. To extend the time of flower availability of your Glads, plant in two week intervals from early spring through June. Increase water and fertility when flowers begin to develop, then plant 4 deep in clay soils, 6 deep in others; the deeper the planting the less need for staking. In frost prone areas, dig them when the leaves turn yellow, dip them in a fungicide, and store in a dry frost free location over winter. Single White Freesia - The Freesia Single White, 'Iridaceae', a spring planted corm, displays wonderfully fragrant white flowers. Freesias are best known as cut flowers, and folks bring them indoors for their breathtaking fragrance. Pinch out the topmost buds and remove old flowerheads to encourage new ones to open. Freesia requires high light intensity and rich soil. Keep them out of extreme heat as they prefer cooler temperatures to perform their best. They are useful for borders and beds and of course, cut flowers. Home page Gardening items list Gardening website More C A S I N O Bonuses Single Yellow Freesia Information |
